On the shower issue it comes from straight guy thinking. If I was in a coed shower I would check out all of the chicks in there and be thinking about banging them. If a hot chick walks by me I check them out. Therefore if I were gay I would likely be checking out a lot of guys. Therefore it is a reasonable to believe that a gay person in a shower might be checking you out.

What this fails to take into account is that their isnt really anything wrong with looking at someone. Is it sexual harassment to glance at womens chest? So at least when clothes are on there is nothing wrong.

But when clothes are off do you have a right not to be looked at. We have separate showers and wasrooms for different genders s for this reason. Both modesty and women feeling unsafe. Now a straight person shouldnt feel unsafe as it is the gay person who is far more likely a victim of violence. But if a person does not want to be objecified sexually while naked they should be able to do that. So in order to accomodate a person like that there needs to be private showers and change areas in all washrooms. Most facilities already have this so there is no real issue here.
