I have to say that if the invocation of your national pride requires the good performance of perfect strangers in a practically meaningless sporting competition then I suspect that you don't really have a good grasp at all on what is good about being a Canadian.
In any event, this leads nicely to another of my likely unpopular opinions. Nationalism is a wasted "virtue" and "national pride" is stupid.
