I'm in Scottsdale down there and it is 45 mins going home with virtually no traffic and going fairly fast. It is a good hour (leave by 6) with traffic going there.
In Calgary it is 30 mins from the Deep South.
It isn't the worst location, but when demographically much of the money is in Scottsdale and the east side of the city, and it seems many of he northern migrants (from the northern US, as well as seasonal Canadians) are on the opposite side of the city, it does make it hard to do that drive anywhere near 40 times a year.
It's not the only problem by any stretch, but it sure isn't helping.
