Remember when Harper called Maritimers defeatists? I have an opinion that concept extends across the entire country and that Canada ranks as one of the more jealously ridden G8 countries. I've travelled the world, and I call Canada home, but I've never been to such an advanced country where I see more people crying about successful people than Canada. If a person is rich, they are automatically labelled a selfish ####### by a good portion of our population. Every accomplishment is poo-pooed (Their lucky, their family had money so it's easier to make money, had everything handed them, etc.), and there's always a reason someone has something you don't (Nice car... well he can write that off through his business, they went to university..... I could have to if my parents were better off. etc)

Everywhere I go in this country I hear garbage like this. I even hear it from my own parents. I'm almost to the the point of giving them a very long list as to why they ended where they did in life and why other people were more successful. Christ Canadians even wish for their own companies to fail. The amount of people I hear around this country that say things like I can't wait for "Insert Random Canadian Company Name" blows my mind. It's almost as if being successful in this country is frowned upon.

If someone actually heard a success story, and said in conversation, "Wow, good for him." I think i'd fall out of my chair.
