come to think of it, that's the funny imbalance between the two series. Star Wars has all this outlandish technology on a massive scale. Supposedly a run of the mill star destroyer has the energy output equal to that of an average star...sooo you need a death star to destroy planets because why? but then the most powerful beings are jedi/sith, who are limited to various minor tricks such as telekinesis/telepathy.
then on the Trek side, the ships are more conservative and sort of based on extrapolations of known physics but there's more than a few complete or near omnipotent races and beings. that's made for both some of the best stories, as well as the silliest ones once you start thinking about what wielding that kind of power really means.
