What you say is nearly true. However the fact is, the captain and supposed top defenseman of the team should not need a defensive partner who is better than him to cover for the captain's defensive miscues. When did Dion look good in Calgary? When he played with somebody who covered for his mistakes, and when he didn't play against the other team's top lines. Dion has talent but can't use it well against top players, and his talent stops when it comes to defensive play.
