Depends on the season, right now my weekday drinking isn't significant. If I'm out for wings or dinner with friends I'll have a couple but that is maybe an average of 1-2 times every two weeks. On weekends, it depends on the event we're attending Friday & Saturday. If the plan is to head to a bar/club, I'll pickup a 12 pack to pre-game for the night and will usually be left with 0-3 depending on what time we head down.
In the summer, my weekday drinking increases as dinners on the deck/outdoor patios increase. Also, we tend to have more parties on weekends where we will all pitch to get a keg. Not exactly rowdy keggers like my uni days but we still manage throw down quite a few.
I would agree with those who say the 1-2 beer a day thing is a non-issue. My dad was a pretty straight laced guy who worked for Canadian Airlines & Air Canada for many years. He often loved to relax before bed with a couple beers in our hottub. Given the stories he told about working for Air Canada when Canadian was taken over, I can now realize that the 30-45 minutes of peace & quiet that he got out there were probably tremendously soothing for him and allowed him to unwind after long, stressful days at work.
When you get past the 3-4 mark a day I think you can start running into some problems. Even then, if you are taking care of yourself and your family, are keeping yourself healthy through exercise, and are not doing foolish things like drinking and driving I don't think it is anyones place to pass judgment.
