This is completely irrelevant to the topic, but there's some interesting reasons behind that.
Statistically at that time, for Europeans, if you lived up to 21, odds were that you'd live to 70 and up. The averages being so low were almost always due to infant mortality rates.
I don't know what the aboriginal age trends were, but I suspect something similar existed.
