I think it is possible they can both be scumbags. Tuiasopo for starting the prank Te'o for continuing to use it to his advantage when he knew it was false.

Apparently Te'o got the call from Lennay Kekua on Dec 6th stating she was alive. She made up some story that she was being chased by drug dealers so had to fake her death. Manti was obviously in utter shock and didn't know how to respond. He didn't know what was going on. He then talked about her 2 days later stating she was dead.

This sounds like an incredibly weak story and "obviously in shock" I guess to someone trying to come up with excuses for him it might seem obvious.

Manti does admit it was wrong to lie but he said honestly, at the time, I didn't know if she was still alive or dead. He had no clue what was happening and was scared to tell anyone. He then told his parents on Christmas Day and the Notre Dame staff on Dec 26th.

Seems like some nice covering of the tracks after he realized he was busted.

ND, Manti and his family were going to come out with the story right after the NCG but the deadspin article broke it first. Imo, this could've been mostly avoided if ND broke the story first but just waited too long, hence all the speculation and accusations regarding Manti's involvement.

I am sure they were. I outside of their actions prior to this why wouldn't we believe more of their lies?

All he did was make one mistake that any one of us would probably make and is being vilified for it.

He lied multiple times so it wasn't one mistake and I would doubt that most people on here would come close to making that mistake and certainly not for so long.

Kobe rapes a woman, Big Ben rapes 3 and Ray Lewis can be an accomplice to murder, but lets beat on the Mormon kid because he got duped on the internet and afterwards, was scared to tell anyone because he felt embarrassed about his situation.

Are you saying these people don't get vilified for this stuff?

This is purely speculation. No where has it stated that Te'o knew about this prior to Dec 6th.

Just going off reports I have read from reputable sources.
