It's not stupid at all. Cops using the various comm devices while driving is a
necessity of their job. Pulling partly into an intersection on a red light then stunting to the local coffee shop is not. I'm sure you can see the difference.
And as mentioned, Cops are better drivers than most everyone else on the road because they have the training.
