As I recall, fans aren't people hoping, and wanting this team to flop.. if that excites you, just so you can be one of the few d*cks that can come on here and throw it in people's faces to boost your ego, then that's not being a fan, just a d*ck, lol. We have enough Canucks fans for that.
I've followed this team for every televised game and then some minus a few, since '03, and before that had season tickets for a few years (when there was not much winning to be seen).
I've seen this team during the rotten, low times, and since. I've bashed Darryl and his poor management ways and what they did to this team and thought Keenan was a joke for being an impulsive and unstructured coach. I've been very critical of Iginla until recently for sitting on the blue line and not back checking enough (though he's tried). In fact, despite his goal totals, it's very obvious to anyone who can remember that he rarely skates through the middle and the high traffic areas controlling the play like he used to, which is why I think if anything, his recent play is a bit overrated. It's not all "rosy" from my perspective. And you're just assuming and deluded if you're saying that. I would have preferred we went out and got a bigger forward than Hudler, that we'd got some help at C like a Mueller. And I disagree with letting Jokinen go. I thought we should have found a way to deal Bouw to the Red Wings. I'm not content having him on the blue line as is... And so on..
However, at the end of the day, those are the moves the team chose to go with. And it's not like there AREN'T things to like about them. There is as much possibility of success for their new additions as failure. And when it comes down to it, it IS about the crest on the front and you've gotta support the team, simply because you are a fan. Especially just coming into a season. What is there to be s**tting bricks about when they haven't even lost a game yet? This is what I don't get. People like you guys, not even giving the team a chance. Just as you think there might be little merit to be getting overly optimistic about the team's chances coming into this season as they haven't proven anything yet, there
equally isn't enough merit to trash this team before it's even stepped on the ice, when it hasn't even had a chance to "suck" yet. Why don't you give them a chance first, especially if you're this "fan" you claim to be?
I think the fans you're ripping on are simply looking for the positives because they actually want to see this team succeed. Which is not unusual for a fan, wouldn't you say? Well if you're looking for a team that you can predict will fail year after year before the season has even begun, then sir, the Oilers are the team for you!
