Would definitely try one of the phone repair places, if it's just the glass on the outside. $100 to replace glass is cheaper than a new phone. If you are going to buy a new phone, I'd then go back and see if you can fix it yourself. If you've already given up on the phone, there's no risk in trying to fix it yourself.
