You can add a gun tax and solve the gun problem and budget problem in one shift law. Lol. Too bad the gun lobby would just kill that as well.
Though issue with a lot of these guns is tons of gun owners aren't taking their weapons seriously or handling them in a safe manner. For every gun owner like yourself that locks your stuff away, that keeps the things unloaded and away from children, there are probably ten more than keep them loaded under their pillow or bed. Recipe for accidental killing right there and probably explains a good chunk of the 43x.
