Grant Fuhr was the face of the franchise and undisputed leader of the Oilers for over a decade? Besides, he played for 4 different teams between leaving the Oilers and joining the Flames. So, to summarize, your analogy sucks.
I see three likely possibilities for Iginla:
1) Stay with the Flames for the duration of his career
2) Get traded at the deadline to a contender
3) Sign with a contender as a FA in the offseason
Somehow, you neglected to mention #1. Regarding the other options, the key word is "contender" meaning the Oilers aren't included in that discussion.
