BTW I've heard lots of rumors about how Aboriginals get XXX amount of dollars when they turn 18, but I don't pretend to know if it is fact or not.
The problem with a lot of Aboriginal debates (this is NOT limited to this board either) is that not a lot of people have all the information.
It generally boils down to this:
Person A: Passive-Aggressive, Off the cuff comment about Aboriginals receiving benefits, or not working, etc.
Person B: Thinly veiled insinuation that person on the other side is racist and doesn't have all the facts and should 'get educated'.
Both sides have some blame.

Sure I addressed his accusation. I said it was only on reserves in Alberta that receive oil money. The vast majority of natives receive $5/year.
As for the "all the information" argument, I don't profess to be that person but when posters repeat lies to back up their argument, I speak up. If you think that's making them out to be racist, that's your problem.
