Two completely different points.
BTW I've heard lots of rumors about how Aboriginals get XXX amount of dollars when they turn 18, but I don't pretend to know if it is fact or not.
The problem with a lot of Aboriginal debates (this is NOT limited to this board either) is that not a lot of people have all the information.
It generally boils down to this:
Person A: Passive-Aggressive, Off the cuff comment about Aboriginals receiving benefits, or not working, etc.
Person B: Thinly veiled insinuation that person on the other side is racist and doesn't have all the facts and should 'get educated'.
Both sides have some blame.

I think there are huge variations between different bands as well. I was watching a news article on a shooting in Hobemma a few years ago, and the girl said she got $234k when she turned 18. That's not the case for every reserve, clearly.
I knew guys in school from a couple different reserves and some got about $1500-1800/month for rent and expenses while going to school whereas others got nothing. It just depends on which reserve I guess, and how well off that band is as well.
