I think you're wrong on all accounts. As recently as August Fincher has expressed interest in doing them and Sony plans do to the final two back-to -back.
Now, who knows how this will all play out, it's taken a decade for Sin City to maybe have number two come out... But I think you're pretty off base with that post, on everything.
