I sure like Iginla however if I were GM I would have reservations on paying for the past verse investing in the future.

Retire a Flame under reasonable salary... 4.5 to 5 million with a max 4 year fits that bill IMO. Even as I type that, I do believe he MUST have a productive season in what is looking to be nothing more than a mad dash to the playoffs.

Any slump or slow start by him will be devastating not only to the team but also his leverage for future value.

Iggy on a contract year... unleash the beast! Heck yes wanna see it.
