I have also discovered that exhaust work is pretty easy to DIY. A sawzall with a metal blade is your friend, and Auto Value sells pipes, connectors, mufflers, and U clamps, so they might have catalytic converters as well.

May need a tiny bit of welding exp to do this. And a tiny bit of fabricating exp as well.
Edit: What's that stuff you can get at NAPA? Q-bond could do the trick.
