Religion certainly doesn't help, but I've met a lot of guys with similar, maybe at least less obvious viewpoints. I don't know why people get so worked up about it. Usually it stems from jealousy, which has little to nothing what the other person is doing. It has to do with the fact that the person feeling jealous has low self esteem for whatever reason. Jealousy comes from feelings that one isn't good enough, that's why they care or want to control what the other person is doing. Who they are talking to, even who they were with before. Often it is unfounded. When it is 'founded' a person who is secure with themselves would simply get out of the situation. They may be mad at the other person, and have every right to be (say if they got cheated on), but they don't use that example to brand a whole gender, they simple go on to their next relationship.
If it was really as simple as not wanting to be with someone who has had a lot of partners, there wouldn't be all these other angry and misdirected comments. There's nothing wrong with wanting that, especially if there is no double standard. And I'm not sure there is one here, at least in the broadest sense. If we believe what we've been told this individual does value sex in a relationship and abides by the same principles more or less. However it's a lot of the sexist and angry talk that highlights that there is probably something else going on here.
Course women get equally jealous and show it in different (well sometimes the same, haha) but equally ugly ways.
