Well then I think you're misrepresenting Sliver. The guy even says that he doesn't want his kids to be afraid of dogs and does things to help with his daughter's fear.
I also hope my kids don't grow up afraid of dogs. My wife has done a good job of making sure they like dogs. I won't be able to help, though. Dogs freak me the fata out, ever since I was bitten as a child. All of the inconsiderate oblivious dog owners don't help.
