Yep. My parents can't, and I had to drive an auto diesel focus wagon last year when I was there. I certainly seemed very slow off the line at the very least, plus I was used to driving just stick. Also, since it's mostly unique to North America that most people don't or can't drive stick, and it's expensive for us to fly to Europe, you pay a harsh premium to rent an auto for sure.
