It's clear that you know very little about dogs which is part of the problem.

Once again the idea that a little dog is better because it can't do much damage is a major part of the problem. It's not ok to assume that a little dog can't do a lot of damage.

If the reported story is true the owner of the small dogs is even more to blame. It's really unfortunate that any person or dog got hurt but you need to be responsible for your dogs.

Any dog over 20lbs could have easily hurt that little pomeranian in this situation.

I also find your outrage at the girl getting bitten on the hand a little odd. It sounds like she needed some stitches which is exactly the level of risk you all seem comfortable with for small dogs. Someone stated earlier that they know their little dog could only cause enough damage to warrant a few stitches and they were comfortable with that.

All that aside I agree with the poster above the owners need an assessment if the dogs aren't considered aggressive, especially since that owner has a young child.
