I had something similar happen to me in a class at the U of C, I had received a low mark on the final, much worse then I knew I possibly could of done. It was an easy fix, managed to find the professor and asked him to recheck my final exam mark. The marks he had in his spreadsheet didn't match what the registrar had on file and next day when I checked my online transcripts the grade had been changed.
Start with the professor if he/she proves to be elusive, work up the chain of command to the dean. In the end, I believe only the professor has the ability to change the grade but if he/she is dragging her feet pressure from higher on up may get you some results.
