The "Red Mile" should be the place to be in Calgary tonight as the Flames beat the Panthers 3 straight in the stanley cup final. Given the injuries to Rene Bourque and Loui Erikkson, who were both playing on the top line, missed all the playoffs and the Flames needed guys to step up in their absence. Vrbata and Ryder helped out tremendously. Evgeni Malkin took his game to another level in the playoffs and carried the team on his back. He was awarded the Conn Smythe trophy scoring 24 points in the 14 games in the playoffs. As odd as it may sound, we also have to mention the play of Devan Dubnyk, who was absolutely sensational in the playoffs. Talk about stepping up and taking over. After the first round, he never really let anything past him. The Flames did have some goal support, even though it wasn't really needed. The city of Calgary has to be proud of these guys, the way they carried through all the adversity they had to deal with, with the injuries of key players on their hockey club. They did tremendous. Hats off to the Florida Panthers for a tremendous fight in the finals. Congrat's Calgary, the cup is yours again, just like it should've been in '04. Goodnight all and see you next season.
