I still haven't felt much of a use for the Apps and related UI features. But for pretty much running Chrome, managing files, playing the occasional game, Windows 8 has been solid. I just timed it: my system wakes up from sleep (i.e. everything but the RAM powered off) in 6 seconds. So much more convenient than any past sleep/hibernate feature in Windows.
