Good thing there was no immediate flaccidity.
I was always under the impression that there being no bones in the penis, stories like this were urban rumors from guys who didn't know enough about their own junk. But I guess muscles can be torn and rupture, and whatever else. Yikes!

It sounds like you came close to having a "penile fracture" but didn't tear or rupture anything, which as you said, means all you suffer is some soreness.
If you actually have a rupture it will be immediately and blatantly apparent, and incredibly painful.
