The British/Canadian army only had a core of the elite British redcoated infantry. A large part of the force was made up of French Canadian regulars.
The British won all of the land battles except for the last big one, The Battle of New Orleans. Basically the British had a large, battle hardened force against a well entrenched auxillary American force. The British marched up the hill and were slaughtered.
The Americans won all of the naval frigate battles except for the last one when the American navy was almost crippled.
