And yes the 'if they had guns too' argument is so stupid.
It would also be interesting to see the number of times that a heavily-armed mass murderer has ever been stopped by a civilian with a gun. Very rare, I'd expect.

Even more than the rarity of stopping a mass shooting, if the shooter takes out the armed person...they now have more ammo. I mean we all saw the NYPD being piss poor shots when trying to kill the guy who did that public shooting in September or so I believe. Soemthing tells me John Q. Public will not somehow be more calm and accurate under pressure. And of course the potential of the armed guy accidentally shooting innocents is very high. Adding more deadly force to an already explosive situation is a recipe for disaster, period.
