Christmas is a secular holiday and has been since it was a pagan solstice festival. Christians tried to usurp the holiday and were successful for almost 2000 years but in the end Coke created Santa Claus and the retail sector jumped on board and beat the last bits of christianity out of Christmas.
The whole Santa mythology and gift giving that is celebrated is almost entirely secular. Sure some christians still like to associate with the Birth of Jesus but the current values of christmas are entirely secular.
I would even argue that a nativity scene and a Menorah have been taken over and are merely non religious symbols that link back to the history of a country the same way the purpose of Halloween isn't to ward of evil spirits.
We have secularized all our holidays. Christmas (which includes some lip service to chaunakah) is a Canadian holiday not a christian one.
