I had the second generation Kobo and hated it. It was slow to change pages (a second or two delay) which sounds like nothing, but it'll make you want to throw it through a window. Maybe the new ones are faster, but I do my reading now on my Nexus 7 and find it to be 10x better than a Kobo. Maybe there could be issues reading outside, but I do my reading inside 99.9% of the time so it's a non-issue.
A tablet consolidates a lot of devices into one awesome little package. A dedicated e-reader is just clutter IMO.
