‘Canes ride out of Beantown with luck as a passenger.
The Hurricanes head home to Raleigh with a two game lead as fate was on their side Friday night. The ‘Canes came out and played their best period as they opened the first as goals came fast and furious as the offence let up the Bruins netminder for four goals. Wayne Primeau, Alexander Ovechkin, Brad Boyes and Stephane Yelle all hit the score sheet for the ‘Canes as they took a 4-0 lead heading into the second period.
The second frame say the Hurrricanes and Bruins trade punches as each team respond with a goals of their own to push the clock to a 6-2 lead for the clutching ‘Canes.
Whatever was in the Hurricanes water to open the game had definitely left their tanks before the beginning of the 3rd, as it was all Bruins as the ‘Canes tried to hold onto the lead till the final buzzard. The Hurricanes were out shot in the final two periods by a 25-9 margin, luckily enough that lopsided stat wasn’t a reflection of the score as David Aebischer managed to keep the surging Bruins from the score sheet enough to go on route to a 7-3 victory even though being outplayed for 2/3rd of the game
