Maybe you have a more narrow definition of science fiction than most. I will admit that a lot of sci-fi is cheesy or weak but horror and fantasy suffer from the same problems. Being partial to sci-fi I will find average sci-fi flicks more tolerable than average flicks of genres I am not as partial to (like horror.)

But I don't know how you can be into post-apocalyptic and dystopian fiction/movies and hate all sci-fi. Kind of an oxymoron.
I'm more into the breakdown of social structures where societies revert back to simpler, more savage times rather than the technological advances in them like most sci-fi is.

I'm probably not making any sense, but I'll try. Three examples that best describe my taste in the post-apocalyptic genre are Jericho, The Road, and Contagion.

I really enjoy movies/shows that depict society going backwards and struggling to adjust to a new way of life (without advanced technology), rather than a breakdown in societal function WITH advanced technology.

It looks like I'm in the minority on this, but I've (mostly) liked everyone's suggestions. I pretty much got what I wanted when I started the thread, so thanks everyone. Sci-Fi still sucks though .
