It's funny how much my opinion on Ben Affleck has changed since he has become a director. I used to be at the point where I couldn't stand anything he was in, and made sure to avoid all of his movies. Aside from Changing Lanes I can't think of one movie of his I liked in the last decade.
However, as a director I would rate his three movies (Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and Argo) as among the three best movies of the last five years. Gone Baby Gone is probably my favorite of the three, which is the only one he didn't act in.
If he can continue to put out such top quality movies he may become one of the must see filmmakers out there. Even Spielberg hasn't put out a level of similar quality in over a decade now.
Of course this all happened when he left JLo for Garner, so it seems like it took a correct change in his personal life to make an improvement in his professional side.
