Toronto voters who voted him in have no one to blame but themselves. Or does the now-crying media for not checking this guy out enough prior to taking office.
Other issues aside, with him not sending that note on City letterhead, they'd be stuck with him and his way (and the slanted individual optics that people now have of him) of running the city.
As part of this, I also think there is a vocal element in that city, who, while ignoring the democratic process, didn't ever like having a balding fat white guy mayor, and equated him to a redneck instantly. They figure Toronto is much more "sophisticated" than that as a leading world city (in their inflated self-worth), should have someone more "worldly" and "interesting" (ala Nenshi) in some regard, if nothing other then just appearances, to represent them.
This is that same element jumping on this most fiercely, and piling on the other reasons that, in their opinion, he should go.
