I don't see alot of baseless picking on. Their ideas are criticized and questioned. There are many conservatives who are well spoken and rational enough in their views that they are discussed with, I'm thinking Cowboy89 or 4x4 as ones that comes to mind. There are others that just post garbage. It isn't necessarily because they're conservative, it's because they show limited cognitive ability to understand the world around them. At least that's my read.
The bigger fact is: welcome to political discussion on the internet. If you can't stand the heat then what you start whining about it? There's a huge literature and philoshophy of conservative politics, back your case up. Woe is conservative Calgarian? Somewhere the world's smallest violin is playing Bach.
