It's quite simple really, he writes to his target audience - the lowest common denominator of people that are obese, lazy, unproductive, feels "overworked" and unfulfilled.
For those people, these books can be inspirational. For people that can find inspiration elsewhere, these books are useless. The "science" is garbage. The concepts are rudimentary at best.

As you can see, most people, especially from the younger generation, already know this. If you're in the Gen Y crowd and don't know this, then these books are for you. For me, I've known this stuff without needing to pay a snake oil salesman since I was very young. The often ridiculed "broke student Europe backpacking trip" is one example where the older generation can't see the "experiences > money" concept, and for those people, I would absolutely recommend this book.
