From the BuzzFeed link, this is published by
BJU Press, as a science text. Here's their idea of
"critical thinking:"
Quote:
Of course, a textbook provides the factual base for studying a subject. But its worldview, its methods of teaching, its depth of content, and its literary quality should promote critical and creative think#ing that is foundationally biblical.
|
Their entire definition of "critical thinking" is just argument from authority (the Bible).
And on their
science curriculum:
Quote:
Much of modern scientific thought is influenced by an anti-God bias. We teach students to carefully analyze the theories they will encounter and to reject error in favor of pure truth and scientific fact. Every science textbook points out the infinite wisdom and designing hand of God in His creation and its laws.

I can find about 100 "errors" to reject on just those three pages. So many logical fallacies, many of them overlapping, it's hard to know where to start. This is not "teaching the controversy." This is
ad hominem,
ad ignorantiam, false analogy, and pretty much every other logical fallacy. So maddening that this garbage is sneaking into public schools.
