So this last episode had some really good parts. The Zeppelin tunes really fit the scenes. Elizabeth Mitchell stabbing the guy at the end was a nice touch (maybe not for him). The hallucinations themselves were pretty good (well, maybe Charlie's was a little too mushy).
But the excuse that they are running out of oxygen? C'mon. It is a huge tunnel, there would be plenty of oxygen. And I'm no scientist, but I assume the whole thing can't be airtight. I agree they could have created a better reason for the hallucinations. The damp musky tunnels are a breeding ground for some hallucinogenic fungi, and when they inhale the spores they all start tripping. Done. Do fungi need light? I dunno, who cares, it's a more scientifically sound than "We're running out of air".
As for the firearms, if I recall, they killed some guys, but more were around and so they had to clear out quickly. That's at least how my brain interpreted that scene.
