Because most Palestinians would refuse to leave. It's not only about living in dignity, it's about living in dignity in your own land. Us as immigrants can't usually comprehend the idea of dying before we leave our ancestral homeland, since all of us have done so or have ancestors who have done so. But to Palestinians it's a very real issue.
