I'm not sold on Melky for 8M/ although it solves that gaping blackhole that has been LF. A big part of Steroid usage is the (even false) confidence it brings from using.
Even if he returns to his norm, 8 million is a more then fair and team friendly price. We have no idea how an extra dose of testosterone works, how it affected his play at all or any. Considering his power numbers went down, it's not the usual "he started hitting more homers".

Random thoughts: (haven't been this excited as a fan since...last season)

-Except Buerhle, none of our 4 starts have pitched in big games. How will they cope under the pressure (starting opening day) of being a favorite to win the AL East and go far into the post-season?
They're still not the favorite to win the AL East but I guess it's a fair point. Over a 162 game schedule that stuff would all work itself out however. These are still pitchers that have pitched in big games at one point in their career. If the last 5 years of MLB have taught us anything, it's that experience means little or nothing. David Price to Lincecum to Matt Moore, all were as fresh as rookies can be and came up huge in the post season.

- The 2 season's past, we've heard this bullpen is solid, but is it? It hasn't pitched in meaningful games either.
Bullpen pitching is a wildcard. The Jays did suffer considerable key injuries to their bullpen last season, especially their closer going down so early. Relief pitchers have a record of being tough to predict one year to the next. I think AA has created enough competition in the pen that the Jays will get a really good one, especially if Oliver comes back

- Will pushing Lind, Lawrie, Rasmus to the 6,7,8,9 spots in the order take the pressure off them and actually see them produce?
Let's not forget Bret Lawrie was playing in his first full season of MLB. The fact that he was able to give the Jays value through his defense and speed made it a good season for him. I view him much differently then I do Rasmus and Lind. Rasmus did have a great stretch there and then injuries hit. Not sure if they effected him at all or did he just regress to his norm. Adam Lind is not going to hit lefites at any spot in the lineup. The hope would be that he could at least hit RHP well and the Jays sign Gomes. Your point is a good one though, the Jays suddenly don't need to rely on these guys to be the 3rd or 4th best hitters, which is huge.

- Moises Sierra looked good in his short stint, is that it for him as a Jay with no room left?
He'll be back in AAA. No spot for him on this team but not the worst call up in the world
