Including the Boston game, Irving still had a respectable .912 save percentage. Not bad at all. Unfortunately he didn't get many wins.

Pretty sure there is a weird stat out there that states wins are more important than sv% and GAA when predicting a rookie goalie's future success. If he wins games, the team will play him more in the future instead of bailing on him and playing a different goalie. The opposite happens when a rookie has a good sv% (the only stat worth talking about with goalies), but few wins. Wish I could dig up that article...
