Aquire is a neat little investment game where you can directly control how well your investments do (and block or put your opponents at a disadvantage). The mechanics are simple but offer a lot of strategy. I don't like to play it often because it can get pretty stale quickly, but everyone I've played it with would play it again.
Lords of Waterdeep is a simple, but great, worker placement game. It's easy, fast and fun. As troutman said, the theme is unnecessary, but you can have fun with it if you want. My only major knock on it is that it feels like there isn't a lot of incentive to interfere with your opponents - but that could also be my inexperience with the game.
I can't really review Race for the Galaxy that well since I've only played it once. I wasn't overly impressed with the game in the first playthrough but I would play it again to give it a fair shake. No comment otherwise.
