It wasn't some German soldier's family photo... it was a symbol promoting the advancement of fascism and genocide.

It hasn't been on display anywhere and has spent the better part of seventy years in an envelope and now a safe. It was kept by my grandfather as a tangible reminder of the atrocities he put his life on the line to fight against.

Even to this day, to have a tangible piece that directly stemmed from the Nazi party is an important reminder in teaching the importance of the sacrifice of our soldiers from that war to new generations. It has always provoked discussion and learning when brought out and shared within our family.
Agree to disagree. you can say it has all this meaning, but from your original post it seems like its a trophy.

maybe you should educate yourself on the origins of the Second World War because you still think Canadians were fighting for freedom.

BS. We declared war before a single atrocity was committed. In fact our ally did similar things in the previous decade and nobody lifted a finger. There is a Holomodor memorial in Bridgeland and I used to walk by it everyday. Its tiny compared to the plazas and statues of warriors with drawn weapons.
