Really the only exception to this theory is Edmonton 34,318 (800,000 population). And it's hard to refer to Edmonton as either a white-collar educated city or a backwater dump. They are sort of in the middle.

So yes, point still stands.

How is Calgary and BC not exceptions since they beat out smaller, blue collar cities in Hamilton and Winnipeg?
