They drafted McIlrath and are stacked on the blueline, Horak would have been a good player to keep for depth for them, and Erixon didn't really work out as well- you can tell because they traded him.

So knowing all of the above, I just don't know how one could state the Flames lost the trade. It actually worked out pretty well for them.
The Rangers flipped Erixon for Nash. They added some pieces, but Erixon was a big part of it. Basically, both teams win by trading Erixon.
