The hell? Mine got infected and didn't stink...
I cleaned them every night but apparantly one healed too fast over some food and got infected, it's very rare though.
And I forgot about the freezing...it's by far the worst part, because after you don't know what you can do, if it's hurting or not. My chin was frozen for 3 days, and that is just annoying.
