People talk about it, some have kits, some don't.

I am of the opinion that should a 9.whatever earthquake strike the city, life isn't going to be that much more comfortable with a preparedness kit. Not that that should dissuade one from having a kit, but, dropping a bomb in the middle of the city isn't going to be helped by some bottles of water, granola bars and bandages.

Despite the initial devastation, I don't think it's likely that you'd see a massive humanitarian crisis like when a disaster strikes a place like Haiti, Iran or Thailand in the form of tsunami, or the gulf coast during storm season. The devastation wrought would be massive, of course, and casualties likely 'significant'. Prolonged devastation? Doubtful.

If I lived out in Surrey or Delta, I'd probably have a more elaborate kit.
