What are your thoughts on Picasa vs LR for simple edits such as cropping and highlights? I have LR but found it intimidating so I rely on Picasa a lot.

The f2D is an FX lens

The 1.8G is a DX lens

The f2D may or may not be made in Japan.
The 1.8G is likely made in Thailand or China.
