I'm not understanding these "American gun culture" comments. The girl was shot by a shotgun. Perfectly legal in Canada. If you asked most people in the street, even in an urban city, if people should be allowed to shoot a skunk with a shotgun, I think most would be in agreement (with caveats of shooting in a heavily residential neighbourhood, etc.).
